bad oooze

ya know, I actually checked those bearings after replacing the belt. So if it wasn't for the stop for a root beer float, I wouldn't have discovered the ooze. I rode a couple of hundred miles before installing the new treads. Maybe it is the repacked grease....maybe not. Slight detour today finds me at the Ukiah Holiday Inn Express. Got some good route recommendations from another two-wheel fan, Howie, who happened by. That is what happens when you stop for a goofy picture of your bike and a humongous pile of redwood timber. Apparently the Stewarts Point Skagg Springs road is quite famous. It was a hoot for sure; especially the bits toward Sonoma Lake. Howies says the cops are out in droves on the weekends, prolly has something to do with the fatalities.

It was tough leaving this morning as it has been good catching up with Sandeep and Kashmira. Maybe there'll be a theme to the trip after all.

Tomorrow I've a 9am appointment with Kirk over at the local HD/Buell shop; managed to get 10bucks off the room rate by mentioning the HD shop....wonder if it works elsewhere?

This morning, I actually buttoned up and had the heated grips going but after crossing into Sonoma Valley, the parched landscape kinda sez it all. Yeat it may be a dry heat but it is still darn hot; even after my organic root beer float. Howie sez there's the nation's first organic beer brewery downtown...maybe that'll help.

Brain joggers: Rt 1 to Stewarts Point. Aussie chap on his ZX14. Oh so this is what 'stupid' meant on the coastal road. 36 over from the coast or 299 northbound.
